Travel Diary: Calaguas Island

Summer is fast approaching and I would like to feature some of the beautiful places you may want to add in your bucket list. My first travel feature here in my blog would be my favourite Calaguas Island.
Calaguas is a virgin beach island found in the province of Camarines Norte. If you are looking for a beach bumming cowboy trip & you love camping, setting up bonfire & star gazing then this is the place to be. Two hours boat ride from the port would be all worth it once you stepped on the fine powdery white sands & started to swim on its clear (swimming pool like ) blue waters. This place is recommended only during summer season due to strong winds & big waves during wet months.

There are no hotels & electricity all throughout the island which makes it very natural & peaceful at night compared to other beaches. Listening to the waves, playing your guitar & sharing stories with your friends over the bonfire are still incomparable to those who experience luxury stays in expensive resorts. In terms of the quality of sand, shore & water, this is the best beach I’ve ever experienced so far compared to El Nido, Coron & Boracay.

Going to Calaguas Island might be difficult so I would recommend you to join travel groups who could provide their own tents, food & transportation. Also, these travel groups are organized to ensure you a safe & hassle free trip.

Below are my recommended travel group sites that organize trips going to Calaguas. You may consider contacting them this summer:
